The calculator

Worked examples

We computed these with the same engine as the calculator, by counting every possible deal. Hand A is the first hand in each spot. Equity is the share of the pot a hand takes on average if no one bets again; it isn't advice on how to play.

Hand A holds a pair of aces plus a two and a three. Hand B holds big cards only.

2. A low draw against a high draw

The flop has two low cards, 2 and 6. Hand A holds an ace, four, five and seven. Hand B holds three high cards and an eight.

3. A flop where no low is possible

How Omaha Hi/Lo (eight or better) works

Each player gets four hole cards and uses exactly two of them with exactly three board cards, for the high half and for the low half. The low half needs five different ranks, none higher than an eight, and an ace counts low. Straights and flushes don't hurt a low. If no hand makes a low, the best high hand takes the whole pot. A hand that wins both halves scoops.

There are 270,725 possible 4-card starting hands, and each one contains 6 two-card combinations you could choose to play. The calculator seats 10 players at most.

What the calculator does here. Flop and turn spots are usually exact. The results also show how often a qualifying low appears. Preflop is simulated.

Disclaimer

Poker equity calculator (educational). This tool shows each hand's equity: the share of the pot it would win on average if all the remaining cards were dealt with no more betting. It uses only the cards you enter and treats every unknown card as equally likely. It ignores betting and how anyone plays, and it cannot tell you what will happen in a hand or what to do. “Exact” results count every possible deal. “Simulated” results are estimates; the plus-or-minus figure means each player's true value is very likely (95% confidence) within that range. Nothing you enter leaves your device. Many card rooms and poker sites do not allow calculators during a hand; check their rules.
